Carbohydrates - it's the quality that counts!

No carbs.  Good carbs. Bad carbs.  Confused about carbs?  You're not alone!

Carbohydrates (aka. "carbs") alway seem to be a hot topic for debate.  So are they healthy or not? This is not a simple yes or no answer - it's actually the QUALITY of carbohydrates that count.

A recent study published in Public Health Nutrition compares different types of carbohydrates to find out which carbohydrates are healthiest, how you can see past the advertising to actually find them in the grocery store and how prices compare between healthier whole-grain products and less healthy carbs.  The article is very informative, but pretty dry to read - even by nutrition wonk standards.

To make the findings more approachable, I partnered with Harvard Men's Health Watch to create a quick 1-page read, "Carbohydrates in your diet: It's the quality that counts."

Hint: try out the 10:1 rule for selecting healthy whole grain foods!
